UN Luncheon
International Women's Day Luncheon

Washington, DC—On March 4, 2015, the WFPG co-hosted an International Women's Day luncheon with the United Nations Foundation, the United Nations Information Center, and Johnson & Johnson. President and CEO of the United Nations Foundation, Kathy Calvin, opened the program and noted that it will be impossible to achieve our global development goals without investing in girls and women first. US Managing Editor of The Financial Times Gillian Tett moderated a discussion with Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Heather Higginbottom and the UN Secretary General’s Global Initiative on Education Global Youth Representative Chernor Bah. During the panel discussion, the speakers outlined the way forward to ensure that girls and women are at the center of the UN's development agenda. Former President of Malawi Joyce Banda presented the Girl Up Advocate Award to Kennede Reese and WFPG President Patricia Ellis closed the program.
