UN BRIEFING
Advancing Gender Equality through Communications
Cristina Gallach, Under-Secretary-General for Communications and
Public Information, United Nations

New York, NY—On April 15, 2016, Cristina Gallach, the Under-Secretary-General for communications and public information for the UN, addressed the WFPG on how to advance gender equality through communications. Gallach shared experiences from her 15 years in journalism to illustrate how the media is making progress towards equality but is moving too slowly. She emphasized that more representation of women in the media leads to a better society. The event was co-sponsored by the Institute of International Education and moderated by WFPG President Patricia Ellis.
