On July 16, 2019, BBC foreign affairs journalist Suzanne Kianpour moderated a conversation on The US and Iran: Threats, Demands and Escalation, with Atlantic Council Senior Fellow Barbara Slavin, Johns Hopkins SAIS Assistant Professor Narges Bajoghli, and Georgetown University Associate Shireen Hunter. The discussion covered the implications of escalating US-Iran tensions, the status of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and policy recommendations. The speakers gave a brief overview of US and Iran relations since the revolution, the political environment in Iran, and the role of media, public opinion, and rhetoric.
