International Women's Day Luncheon

Washington, DC—On March 8, 2016, the WFPG co-hosted our annual International Women's Day luncheon with the United Nations Foundation, the United Nations Information Center, and Johnson & Johnson. President and CEO of the UN Foundation Kathy Calvin opened the program entitled Her Goals: Our Future. The luncheon included remarks from the UN Foundation's Deputy CEO Elizabeth Cousens, UN Information Center Director Robert Skinner, WFPG President Patricia Ellis, and Senior Adviser to Barack Obama and Chair of the White House Council on Women and Girls Valerie Jarrett. Guest speakers from a variety of sectors contributed to two panel discussions – Her Voice: Listening to Adolescent Girls and Young Women and Her Goals: Putting Girls and Women at the Center. The speakers emphasized that a generation of healthy, educated, safe, and empowered girls and women could transform the future of humanity.
