Join the Women’s Foreign Policy Group and AllianceBernstein for a virtual event to discuss the process of joining a nonprofit board. We will be joined by Marisa Swystun and Katarina Weir from AllianceBernstein, two experienced professionals with many years of nonprofit expertise between them.

Thursday, April 18, 2024 As Vice President, Social Sector Specialist, Marisa Swystun brings 20+ years of diverse nonprofit and foundation experience to clients’ investment strategies. Her career began with an arts and education focused family foundation in Detroit before serving as the Associate Director of Development for The Art Institute of Chicago. She then co-founded a 501©3 maternity clinic in Cote d’Ivoire and later served as the Chief Development Officer for Nashville’s Center for Nonprofit Management.
Katarina Weir is a Wealth Advisor in Bernstein’s Washington DC office. Her practice focuses primarily on advising and supporting the nonprofit community, as well as women. Katarina joined the firm in 2022 after 17 years of successfully rebuilding, running and growing an international nonprofit music education program, Orchestra of the Americas Group, which resonates strongly with the nonprofit community she works with, as she has the lived experience, and truly understands the challenges and opportunities facing this community. She is very active in the DC community, serving in board member and committee capacities at KIPP DC, So Others Might Eat, as well as the French American Cultural Foundation. Katarina earned an MA in Business Studies at the University of Edinburgh, as well as a certificate in nonprofit leadership from Harvard Kennedy School.
