Cultural Diplomacy in Concert: Women Conducting Change on the World Stage
Tuesday, June 17, 2025, 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM EDT
Category: Events

Please join the Women’s Foreign Policy Group, the Embassy of France, Washington Performing Arts, and Levine Music for a morning of arts diplomacy and celebration of pioneering women in the male-dominated profession of conducting on Tuesday, June 17th, from 8:30-10:30 AM. Inspired by the striking documentary MAESTRA, this program underscores the importance of music diplomacy in uniting and furthering understanding amongst international communities, in ways that traditional diplomacy may not. Hear from French-American conductor and star of MAESTRA, Mélisse Brunet, in addition to prominent women leaders shaping the classical music industry: Jenny Bilfield, President & CEO, Washington Performing Arts; and Aimee Halbruner, Vice President of Music Education, Levine Music. With remarks from Deputy Ambassador of France Agnès von der Mühll and a trailer screening of MAESTRA, the morning will also include a networking reception, fostering connections between professionals in international affairs, business, and the arts.

The event will occur at the Embassy of France's La Maison Française, marking the French annual June holiday celebrating music appreciation, La Fête de la Musique
