As democratic and political norms constantly shift around the world, specifically in the European Union, it is crucial to explore and understand the forces that shape European cohesion. This timely panel will explore the causes and implications of these shifts. Experts and government officials, including Deputy Chief of Mission of the European Union Ruth Bajada, the Carnegie Endowment's Saskia Brechenmacher, and the McCain Institute's Laura Thorton, will examine how evolving political trends are shaping EU enlargement and transatlantic relations, and whether increasing women’s representation in EU institutions can help strengthen democratic norms and resilience.
