Support WFPG
WFPG is a 501(c)3 organization and donations are completely tax-deductible as allowed by law. Your support will help us to:
Promote Women's Voices on Pressing Global Issues
WFPG advances women's leadership and highlights their contributions to foreign policy through substantive global issues conversations with women experts, leaders, and news-makers. The organization also amplifies women's voices through its blog Voices and raises up role models through its annual Guide to Women Leaders.

Encourage and Support the Next Generation of Women Leaders
WFPG believes that providing the next generation of women leaders with the tools to succeed is the key to promoting women’s voices in foreign affairs. The organization provides a forum where women of all ages can broaden their networks, mentor those new to the field, and be mentored by those who have come before them, both through our professional development and mentoring programs, as well as our Young Professional Network roundtables.

Donating Stocks

Thank you for your interest in supporting the Women’s Foreign Policy Group through a stock donation!

Why give stocks? Making a gift to the Women's Foreign Policy Group in the form of appreciated stock or mutual funds allows you to have an immediate impact on our work to advance women's leadership and voices in international affairs, while also possibly paying less in income taxes. When you transfer ownership of long-term holdings to the Women’s Foreign Policy Group, you receive a charitable deduction for their full current market value—and you incur no capital gains tax (subject to IRS deduction limits). Similar state tax benefits are also provided in most of the country.

How to make your stock donation: We are happy to accept stock donations via electronic transfer from your broker. Top begin the process, please fill out a Letter of Authorization and send a copy to your broker. Because electronic transfers are made without identifying the donor, it is important to also alert the WFPG to the stock and number of shares you plan to give. You can do this by sending a second copy of the Letter of Authorization to the Women’s Foreign Policy Group to [email protected] or by mail (Women’s Foreign Policy Group, Attn: Shaz Akram, 1801 F Street, NW, 3rd Floor, Washington, DC 20006). You can also notify us by phone at 202-429-2692.

Please contact Alexa Chopivsky at 202-429-2692 or [email protected] with any questions.

What happens next? After the WFPG receives a copy of your Letter of Authorization (or another notification from you outlining the number and type of shares donated) and our broker confirms the donation of securities, the WFPG will issue your official acknowledgment letter. This letter will indicate the number and type of shares received and date the stock was converted into a gift (day when record ownership of stock was transferred to the WFPG).

The WFPG is a 501(c)3 organization and all contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent provided by law. Every effort will be made to sell non-marketable securities as quickly as possible. For tax purposes, the value of the stock will be an average of the high and low prices on the date of the gift. The donor should be aware of possible tax implications. Please contact your tax advisor for complete tax deductibility rules.

IRA Charitable Rollover Gift

If you are age 70 ½ or older, you can support the WFPG by making a gift from your IRA. You can contribute up to $100,000 each year without having to pay income tax on the IRA distribution.

How It Works

  • If you are 70½ or older, you can give up to $100,000 directly from your IRA each year to charities such as the WFPG.
  • The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you still benefit even if you do not itemize your tax deductions.
  • If you have not yet taken your required minimum distribution from your IRA for the year, your IRA charitable rollover gift can help satisfy this requirement.
  • To make the gift, you need to formally request the distribution be made by writing to your IRA Administrator. Download a sample letter.
Please contact Alexa Chopivsky at 202-429-2692 or [email protected] with any questions.
