Academic Circle
WFPG believes that providing the next generation of women leaders with the tools to succeed is the key to promoting women’s voices in foreign affairs. The organization provides a forum for professionals to connect with one another across sectors and generations. Our roundtable discussions enable future leaders to interact with role models in the foreign policy community.
Join WFPG as a member of our Academic Council and offer your students the chance to connect with women role models from across the field of international affairs. Academic Council membership is open to career centers, departments, Washington semester programs, and schools that want to offer their students access to our Young Professional Network mentoring roundtables, online and in-person career programming, global affairs programming, and our network of international affairs professionals. ENGAGING AND INSPIRING NEXT GENERATION LEADERS
We believe that mentoring is a two-way street and WFPG encourages our members to engage across generational boundaries and benefit from each other's knowledge. WFPG offers a forum where women of all ages can broaden their networks, mentor those new to the field and be mentored by those who have come before them. Through mentoring programs, career forums, and internships, the WFPG provides students and young professionals with the opportunity to meet with international affairs professionals to discuss career experiences and to learn first-hand what tools are needed to excel in their fields and equips them with the skills needed to excel in the field of international affairs.
alt BUILD YOUR CAREER events are career-driven programs held throughout the year that focus on entering the field of international affairs, how to succeed in your position, and what different career paths look like. Programs include skills-focused and career-specific discussions as well as larger panel discussions and workshops on public speaking, salary negotiation, and virtual networking.
alt WFPG's Young Professional Network is a member-led discussion group open to students and young professionals who identify as women. The Network hosts professional development, mentoring and smaller substantive issues discussions--as well as networking happy hours and social events. During our virtual and in-person roundtables, mid and senior-level professionals join the Network for informal conversations on career paths, current projects, and experiences in the field.
